Leading Wellness Experts, Brands and Celebrity Yoga Instructor Headline Presentation

(New York, NY, April 2021)—The New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC) presents an innovative and immersive webinar on “Wellness in Beauty” to take place on Thursday, April 29, at 11:00 am EDT.  The panel of wellness experts, including medical professionals and brands, will explore how the body, its functions, and its appearance are interconnected and how feeling well translates into looking good.

The elite panel of speakers, moderated by Dr. Giorgio Dell’Acqua, PhD, NYSCC Chair-Elect, include:

An added immersive layer of the “Wellness in Beauty” webinar will be a chair yoga session led by Kristin McGee, Celebrity Pilates & Yoga Instructor.  Kristin is author of “Chair Yoga: Sit, Stretch, and Strengthen Your Way to a Happier, Healthier You,” and also has a continuous roster of high profile celebrity clients including Emilia Clarke, Tina Fey, Bethenny Frankel, Savannah Guthrie, Steve Martin, and Christine Taylor Stiller. Kristin also pioneered the launch of Peloton’s yoga program and is currently instructing with them.

NYSCC Announces New 2021 Fall Dates for Suppliers’ Day & Week of Beauty Programming

Leading Ingredients and Formulation Event to Take Place In-Person November 10-11 at the Javits Center in New York, with a Virtual Day on November 12th

(New York, NY, February 2021) — In order to provide a safe and quality event for NYSCC members, exhibitors and attendees, Suppliers’ Day is being moved to November 10-11, 2021 at the Javits Center in New York.  A virtual day will take place on November 12th to reach the largest audience possible.

As the main event in North America, Suppliers’ Day and NYSCC is planning to join forces with National SCC and Chapters across the country to create an immersive and accessible “Week of Beauty,” celebrating innovations in beauty and personal care ingredients, formulations and technologies.

“NYSCC is committed to producing a relevant and engaging event that will bring the entire industry together in November.  Suppliers’ Day will work closely with the Javits Center and follow government and healthcare guidance to produce a safe and compliant experience,” said Susanna Fernandes, Chair, NYSCC. “We will also continue our proven digital programs, initiatives and partnerships that have been successful in reaching new audiences and advancing cosmetic science.”

Liz Streland, President–National SCC, added, “While COVID has thrown a few curveballs into our programming and events across the US, we now see the re-scheduled Fall dates of NYSCC Suppliers’ Day as an opportunity to put plans in place that foster collaboration across SCC Chapters – one of my main goals when taking the reins of National in 2021. We are still formulating plans, but the objective is to open the lines of communication and ensure education and resources are made available to all members.”

NYSCC Presents “Formulating for Inclusion: Conscious Creation for Consumers of African Ancestry,” in Honor of Black History Month

In celebration of Black History Month, the NYSCC (New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists) presents an enriching online panel discussion on: “Formulating for Inclusion: Conscious Creation for Consumers of African Ancestry.”

Taking place, Thursday, February 18th, from 11:00 am – 12 Noon EST, this intensive webinar will feature a power panel of brand owners, scientific researchers and a dermatologist.  They will discuss today’s uncharted waters of inclusion for consumers of color and address the what, why and how when formulating products for skin care, hair care, and color cosmetic.

Moderated by Sonia Dawson, Sales Manager Americas, IOI Oleo Personal Care, “Formulating for Inclusion” will include the following panelists:

New Scientific Educational Programs to Advance Cosmetic and Personal Care Formulation & Product Development

(New York, NY, January 2021)—The New York Society of Cosmetics Chemists (NYSCC), the largest chapter of SCC, announces three new virtual educational programs for beauty and personal care chemists and product development professionals.  The upcoming programs will be on the latest topics and trends in cosmetic chemistry and formulations.

The At Home Live 2.0 on “Fatty Acids and Triglycerides in Personal Care,” will take place on Thursday, January 21st from 11:00 am–12:00 pm ET.   This free program will focus on the relationship between melt point, saturation, and oxidative stability of plant-based oils and fats and is being presented by Benjamin Schwartz, Senior Personal Care Application Specialist, at AAK Inc.

            Two more in-depth webinars featuring panels on:  “Solving Difficult Formulation Issues,” on January 28th from 11:00 am-1:00 pm ET, and “Formulating for Inclusion,” on February 18th from 11:00 am–12:00 pm ET, are also part of NYSCC 2021 educational agenda.

Led by event chair, Howard Epstein, PhD., “Solving Difficult Formulation Issues: Formulating, Testing, and Marketing,” will feature panelists Mark Chandler, President , ACT Solutions Corp.; Perry Romanowski, Independent Cosmetic Chemist; Tony O’Lenick, President and Founder of Nascent Technologies Corporation; and Dr. K.P. Ananth, Professor and Director, Cosmetic Science Programs, College of Pharmacy at University of Cincinnati.  These four recognized international experts will describe a formulation or testing for product claims challenge they have experienced and how the challenge was solved.

Formulating for Inclusion:  Conscious Creation for Consumers of African Ancestry,” chaired by Sonia Dawson, will feature panelists Hannah Diop, Founder, Sienna Naturals; Andrew Miller, Hair Care Marketing Manager BASF; Meg Mullen, Actives Marketing Manager BASF and more to be announced.  They will engage in an enriching dialogue about formulating for the unique needs of consumers of African ancestry and address the what, why and how of skin care, hair care, and color cosmetic formulating on February 18th at 11:00 am ET.

Additional educational programs to provide year-round learning and important information for beauty and personal care chemists and formulators will be announced  soon by NYSCC including an in-depth “Digital Age of Beauty,” program on February 25th. Top trend and analytic forecasters and technology innovators from Google, NPD, Croda, L’Oreal, Perfect Corp and more will share the latest consumer insights and inventive technologies such as AI and AR, that will influence beauty and personal care product development.

Suppliers’ Day, the main event in North American for innovations in ingredients and formulation will take place in 2021, and is the cornerstone of the NYSCC programming and activities.

“Embracing Beauty, is this year’s theme for NYSCC and embodies what makes us different, also makes us beautiful,” said Susanna Fernandes. “This theme will also celebrate what our members create and will be woven throughout these educational programs and our other initiatives each month.”

Leaders Representing Prominent Ingredient and Formulation Suppliers and Manufacturers will Guide the Chapter’s Future Direction  

(New York, NY, November 2020) – The New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC) announced its new executive board for 2021.  The announcement was made by Giorgino Macalino, Chairman, NYSCC and Manager, Makeup Innovation, The Estée Lauder Companies. The 2021 NYSCC Executive Board includes:

“I am proud to take over from my predecessor who kept the Chapter a vibrant source of engagement and education during this unprecedented and challenging year,” said Susanna Fernandes, incoming Chair, NYSCC. “What is ahead for us professionally and personally, is still not clear, but with the help of the new board, committee members and committed volunteers we will continue to keep the NYSCC’s activities essential to our members.”

Programming for 2021 will embody the theme of “Embracing Beauty.”  Symposiums, webinars, Suppliers’ Day, and more, will celebrate what NYSCC members create, as well as their uniqueness and influence in the the beauty and personal care industry. In addition, NYSCC Show Management is implementing strategies, programs and partnerships for a blended Suppliers’ Day experience, taking place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in NYC.  In addition to a safe in person trade show and conference, Suppliers’ Day will also have digital and virtual offerings to reach, inform, and engage the largest audience possible.

Highlights of NYSCC Suppliers’ Day At Home Live Week of Beauty

Suppliers’ Day is an annual global ingredients marketplace for beauty and personal care brand owners and manufacturers seeking new products, trends and technologies in cosmetic chemistry. In 2020, Suppliers’ Day At Home Live Week Of Beauty will take place online and feature education, engagement, new products, awards and more for the beauty and personal care industry.  The Revolutionary Disruptors that have defined this year, including: the impact of COVID in beauty/personal care, the pivots many made to home care formulations, trends that have started due to the pandemic or have continued through it, and a global view of the future with sights on 2021 will be core components of the event.

Virtual Event for the Global Ingredients Industry Takes Place

The New York Society of Cosmetics Chemists (NYSCC) announces the launch of Suppliers’ Day At Home Live Week Of Beauty featuring education, engagement, new products, awards and more for the beauty and personal care industry.    Taking place online from September 28 through October 2, 2020, Suppliers’ Day At Home Live will showcase the Revolutionary Disruptors that have defined 2020, including: the impact of COVID in beauty/personal care, the pivots many made to home care formulations, trends that have started due to the pandemic or have continued through it, and a global view of the future with sights on 2021.

In conjunction with leading industry partners and associations, Suppliers’ Day At Home Live will offer the most intensive week long educational program for the North American beauty and personal care industry sector. The unique conference program includes:

NYSCC Sponsored Award Recognizes Innovations in Ingredients and Formulation

(New York, NY, August 2020)—CEW has announced the six finalists of the Supplier’s Award: Ingredients & Formulation, part of its prestigious Beauty Awards. The winner of the CEW Supplier’s Award will be announced in advance during the Suppliers’ Day  “At Home Live” Week of Beauty on September 30th.  The Supplier’s Award winner will also be acknowledged at the CEW Beauty Awards presentation on November 13th along with reveal of the other “Best in Beauty” category winners.

Prior to the winner of the CEW Supplier’s Award being announced on September 30th, the finalists will participate in virtual panel moderated by a leading beauty editor during the Suppliers’ Day “At Home Live” Week of Beauty.

NYSCC Re-Launches the “At Home Live Series” with World of Chemistry

A Week Long Intensive Educational Program with On Demand Sessions & Live Q&A Panel

 

(New York, NY,  July 2020)  The New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC) re-launches its “At Home Live Series 2.0” with World of Chemistry: A Global Perspective, starting Monday, July 20th.   A staple at the Suppliers’ Day events in NYC, World of Chemistry is available now with  4+ hours of ON DEMAND content and culminates with a LIVE panel presentation featuring the speakers from around the world on Thursday, July 23rd.

 

The four programs will cover post-COVID trends, regulations, the Brazilian cosmetic market as well as present a forward look at  what will be trending in the next decade.

NYSCC Presents Virtual Skin Microbiome Symposium & Digital Pop-Up & Solutions Center

(New York, NY, June 2020)—The New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC) is pleased to announce a virtual week-long educational program focused on Skin Microbiome: Perspectives on Aging, Compromised Skin and Cosmetics.  This complimentary symposium, June 15-22, 2020 will include five on-demand sessions. a live panel Q&A, and the Suppliers’ Day Digital Pop-Up & Solutions Center.

The sessions, led by leading microbiome experts, will provide a holistic view of the skin microbiome and its impact on cutaneous structure in healthy, aged and compromised states.  Topics that will be covered include:

-“The Gut-Skin Connection and its Relation to Acne;“ Dr. Raja Sivamani, Director of Clinical Research, Department of Dermatology at the University of California

            -“The Gut Microbiome and the Hair Follicle;” Aleks Richards,
Senior R&D Manager, Nutrafol

-“Fresh Insights into the Skin Microbiome and Product Claims Essentials;” Carl D’Ruiz, Senior Manager of North American Regulatory and Governmental Affairs for Personal Care Products, DSM Nutritional Products, LLC.

On Thursday, June 18th, at 11:00 am EDT, the presenters will participate in a live Q&A of the questions that registrants have had from the on demand content.  This interactive panel will be the finale of the Skin Microbiome symposium.

In addition, during the week of Skin Microbiome content, registrants can go to the Digital Pop-Up & Solutions Center sponsored by NYSCC Suppliers’ Day. This platform will allow Skin Microbiome participants to source and learn more about companies that have ingredients and resources advancing microbiome science and product innovations.  At this information portal, product materials, new product announcements as well as video will be available for viewing and download.  Participants will also be able to link directly with the suppliers’ to get more information and schedule appointments. The Digital Pop-Up Solution Center will also be a valuable resource in the months ahead before Suppliers’ Day takes place September 30-October 1, 2020 at the Javits Center in New York.
